CASA President - Craig Archer The Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) is the official and acknowledged squash authority in the Caribbean. Our objectives are primarily to promote the game of squash wherever possible by staging regional competitions, upholding the rules, maintaining offices, generating press releases, undertaking public relations and managing funds.
There are currently nine (9) member associations of CASA: 1) the Bahamas 2) Barbados 3) Bermuda 4) Cayman Islands 5) Guyana 6) Jamaica 7) the O.E.C.S. 8) Trinidad and Tobago 9) Venezuela. It was agreed at the last AGM in 2009 that each member will be entitled to have one representative each on the Executive Committee of CASA, It was also agreed that the Senior CASA Squash Championships (which had been held biennially since 1977) will become an annual event from 2010. As a result the biennial Southern Caribbean Squash Championships (last held in 2008 in Guyana) have been discontinued.
General Meetings of CASA will therefore be held annually from 2009 onwards. The next CASA AGM will be held during the annual CASA Championships (Senior CASA XVIII) which will be staged by the OECS in St. Vincent in August, 2010. The most recent Senior CASA General Meeting was held during the 17th Senior Caribbean Squash Championships that were successfully hosted in Grand Cayman from August 17-22, 2009. This tournament, the last that will be held biennially, took place at short notice in the Cayman Islands after the planned event, which was due to be held in Trinidad and Tobago, had to be cancelled due to a swine flu scare in that country. The current CASA individual champions are: Chris Binnie (JAM) and Nicolette Fernandes (GUY). In the individual finals held on August 19, 2009 they defeated Colin Ramasra (TRI) and Karen Meakins (BAR) respectively. The reigning team champions are: Ladies (TRI); Men (TRI); Veterans (CAY); Overall Champion Team (TRI).

Mr. Archer is only the second person in the 33 year history of CASA to serve more than one term of office as its President. The other being Douglas Beckford (JAM) who served a third two-year term as the head of CASA from August 2005 until December 2007. Mr. Beckford is a veteran squash administrator and a former President of the Jamaica Squash Association who is also the current Caribbean Director on the Executive Board of the Pan American Squash Federation (FPS).
